Prior to converting you vehicle we provide comprehensive explanation, outlining the step by step process involved when converting your vehicle and knowlegable advice relatative to the guidelines and regulations to re-class your particular make and model.

When you have your vehicle conversion carried out independently, ABC Motor Engineers can carry out the inspection on your vehicle and supply the relevant paperwork in line with RSA requirements.


Change in Body Type:
If you are changing  the body type on a commercial vehicle, we can supply the relevant paperwork in order to have your vehicle re-registered with the correct body type.

Campervan Conversions:
When you have converted your vehicle to provide living accommodation, we supply the relevant paperwork in order to reclassify your vehicle as a Campervan.

Some campervan conversions may require additional VRT to be paid, contact us for details and we will happily assist you as to weather an additional VRT payment relates to your vehicle.


SQI Reports for VRT purposes:
If you have recently imported a vehicle and require an SQI report due to the vehicle been modified or an incorrcet body type, we can supply the relevant documentation.

All of our engineers are SQI's (suitably qualified individuals) and full members of the IAEA and can assist you in the criteria needed to convert your vehicle.


Below are the specific criteria required by revenue to have your vehicle re-classed from M1(passenger type vehicle) to N1 (commercial type vehicle) status. We also provide the relevant paperwork , required by revenue to have your vehicle re-classed. For a vehicle can be categorised as a N1, commercial type vehicle, the following criteria shall apply
:

1. The loading of the goods should be possible by a rear door, tailgate or a side-door
2. The loading aperture or rear door opening shall meet the following requirements:
     • When the vehicle is fitted with one row of seats, the height of the loading aperture, from floor to roof, shall be 600mm.
     • When the vehicle is fitted with two or more rows of seats, the height of the loading aperture, from floor to roof shall be
        800mm and the aperture shall show a surface area of  at least 12800cm sq.
3. The cargo area shall meet the following requirements:
     • The cargo area should be generally flat.
     • When the vehicle is fitted with one row of seats the length of the cargo area shall be 40% of the wheelbase.
     • When the vehicle is fitted with two or more rows of seats the length of the cargo area shall be 30% of the wheelbase.
*The length of the cargo area is taken from the rearmost seat in the upright position to the inside of the rear loading door, when in the closed position.
